Blue is the coolest color! Literally! It brings to mind the sky and the ocean, and instantly has a calming effect. I love the color blue – all shades and intensities. I love it in kitchen tiles, dishes, fashion, paint – you name it I’m down with the BLUES! It is often described as peaceful, tranquil, secure and orderly. Blue is often used to decorate offices because research has shown that people are more productive in blue rooms. Blue skies are emblematic of optimism and better opportunities. It is also the color of loyalty and faith.
Recently I picked up a wicker peacock chair from a garage sale. Back in the day, I would say I had about 5 of these chairs in all different shapes and sizes! To say I was a little “boho” would be an understatement! Remember back when Pier 1 used to be so cool and edgy? I can remember wandering the aisles for hours and seeing real merchandise from real vendors across the world! Ah well, I am dating myself now! On with my story! So I was super excited to find this gem in really pretty good shape! I don’t often spray paint, but wicker calls for something to get into all of the little nooks and crannies. I found a couple of cans of cobalt blue (my favorite of the blues) and went to work! Loved how it turned out! And it sold immediately!
I didn’t quite use all of the contents of the spray paint, and I just couldn’t throw it away! I found this sad little lamp fixture that didn’t sell at my garage sale – you can see why in the “before” picture! Just a few squirts of my handy-dandy cobalt blue paint and VOILA! #Instalove #Instablue! I think I might even keep it now!
I am told the color blue has the power to lower pulse rate and body temperature, so hopefully this little blog has created some peace and tranquility in our “blog-o-sphere”, because after all, we are living on the blue planet.
