Normally I don’t write about politics or religion or anything that is offensive to some….but today I need to get a few things down “on paper” so to speak. This time last year was the most wonderful time of year! My daughter and son-in-law were planning a FABULOUS birthday party for their son- my grandson- Zander’s 1st birthday! They rented a house on the beach in Los Angeles. Both sets of grandparents were invited to stay the whole 10 days! My son and his girlfriend live right around the corner. We were even bringing my mother – Zander’s great-grandmother. My sister and her family were in attendance too!! It was absolutely the most wonderful time! And now fast forward 1 year later. My son-in-law’s mother was suddenly stricken with cancer in April of this year and has passed on, all within a 3 month time period. My husband and I both lost our jobs and left our home in Arizona of 15 years and moved to Texas to re-start our lives from ground zero at age 57!! In the process of the move I fall and break my ankle- leaving me virtually flat on my back for about 8 weeks. My daughter is pregnant with a daughter – due in a couple of weeks! Never in my wildest dreams would I have pictured my life taking the twists and turns that it did this past year. We have had so many ups and downs I can barely catch my breath. This past year has really taught me what is truly important – and it’s NOT things – it’s family and time spent with loved ones. Make each day count and count each day as a blessing.
